About

Matthew Green started his interest in Napoleonic wargames as a teenager, playing with Airfix polythene figures in the late 1970s. He didn’t quite grow out of it, but migrated to 15mm white metal figures in the late 1980s. He started to focus a bit more seriously on his hobby after redundancy in 2005. His 15mm Napoleonic miniatures have growth to 18mm, and he also has collections of 20mm World War 2 figures, vehicles and aircraft, 6mm Great Northern War miniatures, and is starting on 10mm miniatures for 1866.

His education was mostly scientifically based, though a final year degree course in History at Cambridge in 1978/79 gives him a tenuous link with serious history. He then qualified as a Chartered Accountant and pursued a professional career as accountant, back-office manager and finance director. In 2005 to 2008 he took a further degree in Economics at University College London, to assist with one of his other hobbies, public policy and politics. He is also an occasional birdwatcher. He is now officially retired, though acts as a primary school governor, as well as hobbies and travel.

Matthew lives in Isfield, a village near Uckfield and Lewes in East Sussex, England, and can be contacted at diningtablenapoleon@icloud.com
